I must say that I love reading everyone's blogs - it seems like there is so much going on in your lives and that life is so exciting for everyone. I then look at my life and try to think of what to blog about, and nothing ever comes to mind - which is sad because we actually do things, I just don't take the time to fully appreciate what we do. Granted, a lot of our life is just everyday life - lots of work, cleaning, laundry, church, hanging with the family, grocery shopping and things of that nature repeated over and over again.
But lately...
I had a wonderful baby shower almost two weeks ago thanks to WONDERFUL friends and family. It's difficult sometimes to have fun at a party when you're the constant center of attention, but I really enjoyed myself at this one and hope everyone who came enjoyed it to. The food, games and general atmosphere were just great. I love it when parties turn out well. Everyone was too generous. I received most of the things I'll need (or think I need) including lots of diapers, so there's only a few things left to get on my own. And a lot of it will have to wait until whether we know if the baby is a boy or a girl. It is fun walking through the baby aisle at Target and knowing that I actually have a reason to be there. I never really went in there before... But don't you just love looking at all those tiny, little things?
Speaking of baby, it is growing bigger by the day. The baby is really moving now and a lot of times I can just look down and watch my stomach move with a will of its own. I have fun feeling the baby's little feet when it is pushing out. Exciting! According to the midwives, everything is going as well as it could (so far) and the baby is growing perfectly and has a good heart rate. Very reassuring and comforting words. For those who don't know, I'm giving natural birth at a birthing center. Don't worry, it's not as scary as it sounds. We have taken a great (and long - 8 week) birth class that taught us so much and we feel much more prepared than we would have otherwise. I highly recommend it. Dayne and I have been walking a lot to keep me in shape and to hopefully make labor easier and more manageable - and if we're lucky - sooner. But we're not due until Oct 8th and they make it a point to tell us that rarely does a first baby come early or on it's due date - usually later.
Work is going well for both of us. Dayne still works hard for SN Servicing and his own company Global Designs - which we hope will someday be his full-time job. I still work for PJCo though only have a little over 4 weeks left! I know a lot of women love to work outside the home, but between school and working for the last 6 years, I'm ready to not be on someone elses schedule. (I know you're laughing at me because I'll be on baby's schedule, but that's different). At least I won't be spending all day sitting in a chair stairing at a computer screen. If I want to go shopping in the middle of the day, dangn't, I'm going to do it.
To finish up quickly, we both still serve in the YM and YW programs, Dayne is on a men's softball team (note - he's never played softball in his life, but you can't even tell), we had a wonderful time with the Brannock's on Sunday finally seeing their cute apartment only a year after they moved in, we are in the process of looking for our own house if things work out (depends on so many factors), we just finished our 8 week, 2 1/2 hour birth class on Tuesday (finally!) and I had my first dental appointment in years yesterday where they told me I don't have any cavities (which I swore I did) and that my teeth look good - a fact I am still smiling about and which makes me very happy. Oh, and both my little sisters have left me for college... :( One in Hawaii and one in Provo.
